SkinBid is closed and you should not send it anything. SkinBid ApS was placed under bankruptcy proceedings in Denmark on 21 November 2025, users were given until 5 December 2025 to withdraw, and the domain now serves a holding page signed by Skinport confirming the acquisition and pointing traders elsewhere. When we checked on 3 September 2026 the front end still loaded but every backend host we tried returned an HTTP 522 error, so no listings, balances or trades can load. This entry stays published as a record of what the site was and what happened to it, not as a recommendation.
Do not send skins to SkinBid. The company behind it is bankrupt, the withdrawal window closed in December 2025, and the marketplace has not worked since. This page exists so that anyone searching for the site finds out what happened instead of finding an affiliate link.
SkinBid ApS, a Danish company, was placed under bankruptcy proceedings on 21 November 2025. The team announced it on 27 November through the SkinBid account on X, describing four years and roughly 400,000 users, and said the site would stay accessible only long enough for people to get their property out. The deadline given was 5 December 2025.
The platform was co-owned by the streamer Mark "ohnePixel" Zimmermann and Oliver "zipeL" Behrensdorff, who wrote at the time that his ambition had been to run an EU-compliant marketplace and that it had not worked out. The closure came roughly a month after a Counter-Strike 2 trade-up change that moved a large amount of value out of the skin market, though nothing published ties the two together directly.
The domain still resolves and the page still paints, which is exactly why it needs explaining. When we checked on 3 September 2026, the application opened a notice dated 13 January 2026, carrying the Skinport logo and signed "Skinport Team":
Skinport acquired SkinBid in early 2026 following SkinBid's bankruptcy filing on November 21, 2025. Our vision is to relaunch SkinBid as a fully EU-compliant peer-to-peer (P2P) marketplace, as most existing P2P options in this space are currently operated outside the EU and do not offer full EU-level compliance and consumer protection.
The notice asks readers to "stay tuned for updates" and recommends using skinport.com to buy and sell in the meantime. It gives no relaunch date.
Behind that page there is nothing running. Every backend host the application talks to returned the same result on the day we checked:
| Host | Role | Response on 2026-09-03 |
|---|---|---|
| skinbid.com | Front-end shell | HTTP 200, last modified 13 January 2026 |
| api.skinbid.com | Listings, balances, checkout | HTTP 522 |
| auth.skinbid.com | Sign-in | HTTP 522 |
| ws.skinbid.com | Live bid updates | HTTP 522 |
HTTP 522 is the Cloudflare code for an origin that will not answer. In practice it means the shop front is still lit and the building behind it is empty. Any review that tells you the site is "live, skins are listed, and the core features still work" has not tried to load one.
Realistically, no, not through the website. The published deadline was 5 December 2025 and the systems that would process a withdrawal are the ones returning 522.
If you still had a balance or items on the platform when it closed, your claim is against the insolvency estate of SkinBid ApS in Denmark, not against Skinport. Skinport bought assets out of a bankruptcy; that is not the same as taking on the previous company's debts to users, and its notice makes no offer to settle them. Anyone in that position should be looking for the estate's appointed trustee rather than emailing support.
It is worth writing down, because the format was unusual and it is what people remember the site for. All of the following comes from the application's own code, which is still being served.
As a seller you created either an auction or a fixed-price listing. You set a starting price and, if you chose an auction, a duration anywhere from 60 minutes to 8 days, with an optional buyout price that ended the auction immediately when met. Payment was secured before you were asked to send the skin, and once you requested a withdrawal the money was described as arriving in your bank account in 1 to 3 business days.
As a buyer you could bid, take a buyout or check out a fixed-price listing without holding any balance on the site at all, which meant you never had to deposit into a platform you had not used. Winning came with an obligation: 24 hours to complete payment, with temporary bans for failing to pay and a permanent one for repeat offences. Card payments required 3D Secure.
Verification was not decorative. Deposits, withdrawals, transaction history, gift codes and the seller shop were all gated behind a completed KYC check, an unverified account was capped at either one or five active winning bids depending on tier, and there was a price ceiling above which checkout required verification.
SkinBid never published a fee table on a page you could read without an account. The checkout code asked the server for a fee amount and a fee percentage for each purchase and displayed whichever applied, showing a "min. amount" label instead of a percentage when the fee hit its floor. That server is offline, so there is no rate we can verify today, and figures quoted in older reviews describe a business that no longer exists.
One other detail sat in the code and is worth recording as a sign of where the platform was heading before it failed. Users detected in Norway saw a notice telling them buying and selling had been disabled and that SkinBid would no longer be available to Norwegian users from 1 June 2025, with instructions to withdraw beforehand. A marketplace withdrawing from a single European market a few months before it entered bankruptcy is a data point worth having.
Nobody who wants to trade today. It is here for the person who searched "is SkinBid legit", found the site loading, and needed to be told that a page painting is not the same as a business operating. If you want the auction format, it is gone. If you are owed money, your route is the Danish insolvency estate. If you simply want somewhere to trade, use a platform that answers when you ask it for a price.
No. The marketplace is not operating. On 3 September 2026 the skinbid.com front end loaded but api.skinbid.com, auth.skinbid.com and ws.skinbid.com all returned HTTP 522, the Cloudflare error for an unreachable origin, so no listings, balance or trade data can load. The page itself opens a notice from Skinport telling users to trade elsewhere.
SkinBid ApS, the Danish company behind the platform, was placed under bankruptcy proceedings on 21 November 2025. The team announced it publicly on 27 November and told users to complete all withdrawals by 5 December 2025. Skinport then acquired SkinBid in early 2026 and published a notice on the site dated 13 January 2026.
The published withdrawal deadline was 5 December 2025 and it has long passed. With the backend unreachable there is no working route to a balance or an inventory. Anyone still owed money or items is a creditor of a bankrupt Danish company and should pursue it through the insolvency estate, not through the website.
The notice on skinbid.com, dated 13 January 2026 and signed "Skinport Team", says Skinport acquired SkinBid in early 2026 and that its vision is to relaunch it as a fully EU-compliant peer-to-peer marketplace. It gives no date, asks users to "stay tuned", and recommends using skinport.com in the meantime. Treat a relaunch as unannounced until it actually ships.
SkinBid never showed a fixed fee in its published pages. Its own front-end code fetched the buyer's fee from the server for each checkout and displayed it as a percentage, falling back to a "min. amount" label when the fee hit a floor. Because that server is offline, no current rate can be verified, and any percentage quoted elsewhere should be treated as historical.
