Skinvault is a skin-for-skin trading platform at skinvault.gg with a separate Cashout mode for turning items into money. Its terms are refreshingly specific about the things that go wrong - payouts land within 0 to 7 days, wallet credits can never be withdrawn, and deleting your account destroys any credits on it - but they publish no fee at all, only a promise that fees will be shown before each transaction. The company structure is split between a Finnish entity and a Dubai partner, with disputes placed under UAE law and arbitration, and the restricted-country list is long enough that many European traders will find themselves on it. Check that list and price a trade against an index before you commit anything.
Before anything else, get the address right. The platform reviewed here is skinvault.gg. The .com version of the name is not it: skinvault.com now returns a permanent redirect to skinvault.ca, a Canadian medical-grade skincare retailer selling SkinCeuticals and ZO Skin Health on Shopify. That is a genuine business, it is simply not a CS2 trading site, and anyone who followed an old link there should stop and check where they are.
With that settled, skinvault.gg is a skin-for-skin trading platform with a separate cash-out route bolted on.
The core product is an exchange rather than a marketplace. You put items from your Steam inventory on one side, choose items from Skinvault's stock on the other, and trade across. There are no listings to price and no buyer to wait for, and the Terms of Service are unusually blunt about what that means legally: Skinvault "obtains ownership rights of the Virtual Items sold by you in exchange for other Virtual Items to which Skinvault holds rights". You are trading with the house, not with another player.
Alongside that sits Cashout mode, described in section 3.4 as a feature that "allows users to exchange Virtual Items for real money". It is deliberately walled off from the trading side, and understanding that wall is the most important thing on this page.
Nothing is published. Section 3.1 says:
We may charge fees for trades, payments, and other services offered on the Platform. The applicable fees will be disclosed prior to the completion of any transaction.
That is a disclosure promise, not a price. It is not unusual in this corner of the market, but it does mean you cannot compare Skinvault against a site that publishes a flat percentage without first loading both, building the same trade twice and reading the numbers off the screen. On a skin-for-skin platform the cost is the exchange rate between your items and theirs, so an unpublished rate is the whole cost, not a line item on top of it.
Here is everything the terms do put a number on:
| What | Published figure | Section |
|---|---|---|
| Trade or payment fee | Not published; disclosed before each transaction | 3.1 |
| Cashout payout time | Within 0-7 days from the date of request | 3.4 |
| Refunds | None, except as required by law; all sales and trades are final | 3.2 |
| Wallet top-ups | Non-refundable and final | 6 |
| Wallet withdrawal | Not possible at any time | 6 |
| Credits on account closure | Cancelled without possibility of recovery | 5.2 |
| Liability cap | The greater of $100 or your last twelve months of spend | 8 |
Only through items, and only through Cashout mode. Section 6 is worth quoting because it removes an assumption a lot of people bring to a wallet:
Skinvault wallet is not a bank account or any kind of financial or payment instrument. The wallet credits may only be exchanged for Virtual Items offered on the Platform. You cannot at any time withdraw the balance from the Skinvault wallet.
Section 3.4 reinforces it from the other side: Skinvault Credits cannot be withdrawn through Cashout. So money you top up in is trapped as buying power, and money you take out has to come from selling items rather than from a balance.
Two further clauses compound this. Top-ups are non-refundable and final under section 6. And under section 5.2, if you terminate your account, "everything including your Credits associated with your account will be canceled without the possibility of recovery". Do not close an account with credits sitting on it.
When a cashout does run, section 3.4 gives the window as 0 to 7 days from the request, with the caveat that after Skinvault has processed it the arrival time depends on your bank, public holidays and other things outside its control. Every cashout is final once processed.
Check before you sign up, because the list in section 4.1 is long and includes places most European traders would not expect. Access "can be fully or partially limited" for users from a roster that covers the predictable sanctioned jurisdictions alongside Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Israel, South Africa, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, Vietnam, Panama and, notably, the United Arab Emirates itself, where the partner company is registered.
Separately, section 4.2 reserves the right to run KYC checks at any time and to ask for further identity information under anti-money-laundering rules, with suspension or termination for non-compliance. That is standard, but combined with the wallet rules it means a verification problem can strand credits you cannot withdraw.
The terms, effective 25 March 2025, name two entities. The service is provided by Virtual Skinbroker Oy, registry code 3425585-3, a Finnish company at Sädekuja 4, 16300 Orimattila. The partner is Not So Boring FZCO, registry code DSO-FZCO-43359, at IFZA Business Park, DDP, PO Box 342001, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The Finnish registration reads reassuringly to a European buyer, so read section 10 before you rely on it. Governing law is the United Arab Emirates, and any dispute goes to binding arbitration under UAE rules conducted in English, after the parties have spent at least three months attempting an amicable resolution. Section 8 then caps total liability at the greater of $100 or what you paid Skinvault in the preceding twelve months.
That is a materially different position from a platform operating under EU consumer law. It does not make the site dishonest. It does mean the practical value of a claim is small and the route to making one is slow and expensive.
It suits a trader who wants to reshuffle an inventory, is comfortable pricing each trade themselves, and treats the wallet as a spending account rather than a place to park money. Seven language versions, a dated terms document with real registry codes and a stated payout window are all better than the category average.
It suits a cash-out seller less well. A trading site with no published fee, a wallet you can never empty and arbitration in Dubai asks you to take a lot on trust for a transaction that is fundamentally about getting money out. If cashing out is the goal, prefer a platform that publishes its rate and settles under a law you could actually litigate in, and keep whatever you do here to items you were happy to trade away anyway.
skinvault.gg. The .com domain is not the skin platform: skinvault.com returns a 301 redirect to skinvault.ca, a Canadian medical-grade skincare shop running on Shopify. If you were sent to a .com or .ca address expecting a CS2 trading site, you are in the wrong place.
No figure is published. Section 3.1 of the Terms of Service says only that Skinvault may charge fees for trades, payments and other services, and that "the applicable fees will be disclosed prior to the completion of any transaction". There is no rate card, so the only place you see the cost is the trade screen itself.
No. Section 6 states that the Skinvault wallet is not a bank account or payment instrument, that credits may only be exchanged for virtual items on the platform, and that "you cannot at any time withdraw the balance from the Skinvault wallet". Cashout mode pays out for items, not for credits, and section 3.4 makes that separation explicit.
Section 3.4 states that payouts for virtual items are processed within 0 to 7 days from the date of request, and that after processing the exact timing may vary with bank processing times and public holidays. All cashout transactions are final once processed.
The service is provided by Virtual Skinbroker Oy, registry code 3425585-3, of Sädekuja 4, 16300 Orimattila, Finland, with partner Not So Boring FZCO, registry code DSO-FZCO-43359, at IFZA Business Park, Dubai. Despite the Finnish entity, section 10 places the terms under the laws of the United Arab Emirates and routes disputes to binding arbitration in the UAE, conducted in English.
